The Associates Committee represents the interests of the many firms providing products and services to homebuilders. This committee works closely with the Membership Committee to retain and recruit members.

This committee focuses on education, advocacy, networking, and philanthropy through exciting events and programs geared toward younger industry professionals. The Future Leaders of the Building Industry presents a path to leadership in the industry and association. From happy hours to building site visits and everything in between, Future Leaders will connect you with colleagues and firms that will benefit your business and growth within the industry.

The Legislative Committee monitors a broad range of local, state and federal issues that affect home builders, remodelers, developers, and all of the members that depend on the housing industry as a source of employment. This committee coordinates lobbying efforts with NVBIA and HBAV staff and informs members of both local and state current issues such as code changes, jurisdictional policies on affordable housing, transportation, and etc. NoVA Build PAC works closely with the Committee to keep in touch with elected officials with a pro-housing agenda.

Meeting times vary throughout the year. While the General Assembly in Richmond is in session, virtual meetings will occur weekly. Contact Chair Andrew Painter for further information.

Membership is the lifeblood of the association. Members of this committee reach out to other members throughout the Association for the purpose of membership renewals, speaking at events, and just having the opportunity to connect with colleagues.

In tandem with the Associates Committee, the Membership Committee assists new members in connecting with existing members at events and educational programs. Between meetings throughout the month, members have the opportunity to call existing members to encourage membership renewals or seek out new firms that will become members.

The committee helps to plan membership recruitment drives, new member orientations, and events such as Breakfast with Builders that connect businesses to businesses.

The Real Estate Finance Committee creates opportunities for homebuilders and capital sources to interact while discussing topics of mutual interest. Events include topical discussions, special seminars, and programs that look at issues affecting mortgage markets across the Northern Virginia market. This is the perfect venue for bankers, mortgage lenders, home builders and asset managers to exchange information and inform the NVBIA membership of challenges and opportunities in those areas.

The mission of Women in the Building Industry (WBI) is to amplify the career advancement and leadership opportunities for women in the home building industry while fostering an inclusive environment for all. We are committed to uniting individuals across all genders to collaborate for the mutual benefit of our members—promoting fellowship, understanding, and education within the industry. Through these efforts, we strive to elevate women into leadership roles and encourage everyone— especially women— to pursue, grow, and establish successful careers in the home building sector, ultimately contributing to the betterment of the industry as a whole.

WBI also has three sub-committees form the overall work to achieve the WBI mission: Education & Events, Community Service, and PR & Communications. The sub-committees work closely with NVBIA staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for education and events, community service, and PR and communications.
