Deborah L. Rosenstein, CEO for the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, has extensive experience in all aspects of the Real Estate industry, including research, product analysis, transactional analysis as well as operational sales and marketing management. Initial experience was in the banking and mortgage banking industries. In the late 1970s, Debbie helped create the first new home database – Housing Data Reports – as well as its Consulting Arm – Housing Strategies – in the Washington, D.C. MSA. Debbie went on to open her own New Homes Consulting Firm – Rosenstein Research Associates, Inc. – that had been operational for nearly twenty-five years prior to joining Metrostudy as Senior Consultant in its Mid-Atlantic region. On the operational side of the new homes business, Debbie served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for The Christopher Companies, a local building firm building condominium, townhome and single family product in the Washington, D.C. MSA as well as in Delaware. Actively involved in the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) for nearly forty years, Debbie served as its President in the 2007–2008 time frame, was named NVBIA Builder of the Year in 2011 and was named Associate of the Year in 1992. Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Government from the University of Maryland and is MIRM (Master in Residential Marketing) certified through NAHB.

Membership Services Manager

Mia Katzenberger, NVBIA’s Membership Services Manager, has extensive knowledge in the mortgage banking industry. She previously worked in an IT support role at Fannie Mae and McLean Mortgage. Mia looks forward to using her customer service experience and database knowledge to help NVBIA and its members.

Margi Christian
Margie Christian
Director of Accounting

Margie has over thirty years of experience in accounting and financial management for non-profit and membership organizations. She has worked for The Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation for the past ten years with youth and outreach programs managing grants and private funding. She has also worked for the National Court Reporters Association and the Music Educators Association, managing accounting operations for membership and event management, as well as accounting operations for Political Action Committee accounts. Margie has extensive experience working with outside audit firms, tax agencies, banking, and financial institutions.

Jana McDonald
Jana McDonald
Vice President of Events and Communications

Jana (pronounced “Yana”) has broad experience in fast-paced business and social event management and communications. At NVBIA, she manages Regional, Chapter, Committee, and Council events. Jana is also responsible for creating and implementing NVBIA communications through email and social media platforms. Her strengths include attention to detail and creativity, which provide excellent attendee experiences. She creates and drafts a variety of marketing materials including newsletters, social media content, and blog posts. Jana holds a Bachelor of Science in Events Management from George Mason University.

Membership Manager

Chuck Ellison, NVBIA’s Membership Manager, brings unique experiences and qualifications to the position. As a long-term Builder member, Past President, and Life Spike of the Maryland BIA, he understands the importance of a strong membership base to both Builder and Associate members. Chuck has been active in NAHB in a variety of leadership roles and understands how the three levels of homebuilder associations work together to protect the industry. He looks forward to using his experience and knowledge to help NVBIA grow and retain its membership.

Heather Johnson, NVBIA’s Events & Communications Assistant, plays a key role in planning, organizing, and delivering impactful events and communications for the association. With seven years of experience as an art teacher, she developed strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a talent for planning school-wide initiatives that translate seamlessly into her current role. Heather is known for blending creativity with organization and enjoys bringing people together. She looks forward to connecting with members and contributing to the success of NVBIA’s events and communications.
